Full of Joy

When your two best friends marry one another...  There is an overflowing joy, a resting of the heart.   I know each one is going to be loved for every inch of their individual amazingness, that each one will be taken care of, celebrated daily.   I couldn't ask for more, peace and joy for two of my dearest and oldest friends.

Brandon and I have known each other since we were 15 years old.   I met Ariel on one of their first dates.  We connected rather quickly, and I grew to love her as much as I had grown to love Brandon.

They were married in Bernheim Forest, and it was more spiritual and moving than any church.

Ariel and her dad prancercised down the aisle :)

We were asked to be part of their big day.  We took photos for them, and I got to be a witness on the marriage certificate.  Ben and I felt truly honored.  It's one of my favorite memories.

Arrival

There's this boost of momentum lately.   I finally see this series as a whole.  I see the finish of each piece.  Now all there is to do is to check off 'A', 'B', 'C' down the list.  Tonight I got a sketch I did of Parker onto large paper; below is the original sketch.  It may or may not happen, but I keep seeing Milo's portrait as a pair with hers.  Parker will be drawing  on her paper tomorrow for me.

Papaw's is coming along a lot faster.   I know exactly what's going to happen with the layers, and this was the hardest piece compositionally for me.  I was just stuck for so long.

I need to fix that jawline, but Moo's is getting closer.

I reworked Parker's face, and still have some work to do there.  The base border and t-shirt are all that's left.  I also went back through the old figures to make them bolder, more graphic.

Still inching along on Amelia's.  I reworked this face more and started on another.

Unwind

Every night we do this ritual of drawing & music.  Or Ben will write or read out loud.  We have a few books going right now.  I decided I had to capture this, this ritual that's been happening for over 6 months now.  Me always at his feet drawing.

I had a very busy past few days/weeks between working and weddings and family obligations (which were well needed for my soul, a recharge).  It's been hard to get a lot of work done at home.  I have tried to get in a few hours each night of drawing.   Papaw's piece isn't far behind Parker's now, and I went back through Parker's to make some touch ups.  Her face was fine tuned and she has the start of pattern in her clothing.

There will be a photo update soon.

Hubers

My dad and Melodee bought us a groupon pass to Huber's to help us get out and have some family time.  It was long overdue.   The kids want to go again really soon.
